Oops! I haven’t posted one of these in awhile. I forgot about them. When we last left our heroine she was going to spend the weekend near Tulum with her pal Bety.

I had a little accident…

There are ceiling fans everywhere here, for obvious reasons. Luckily, the one in my room is above my bed, or I probably would have lost an arm by now. I have stuck the broom into it a few times and gotten quite a jar.

Anyway, when I was visiting Maria last weekend in Chemuyil, the girls pointed out to me that the ceiling (and consequently the fan) were VERY low. Well, it didn’t take but a few hours…I was changing my shirt and I stuck my hand into the fan, while it was going FULL BLAST (D, somehow I know this is your fault, and don’t laugh). It practically knocked me over! I looked at my hand, and my fingers were still attached, but then the blood came. LOTS of it. My friend Maria whimpered “Bety…”, I don’t think she cares for blood. I swear I almost fainted myself. Many of you know that I don’t handle pain very well. (After having a baby I would say I now handle pain very well. All pain now seems like a joke compared to that pain.) Anyway, I didn’t need stitches, and I still have all 10 fingers. The finger that was cut is sore and still swollen, but I can move it (and I can type) so I figure that it will be alright. (I still have a scar!)

Except for this incident, the weekend was fun. We went to a beautiful beach that was in the middle of nowhere. We went salsa dancing and met more musicians (who I still know today). We took the bus from Cancun to Chemuyil, which is in the middle of nowhere, and that is exactly where the bus drops you off. You get dumped on the side of the highway and then you walk to the “town”. It was so cool. I felt so rugged! (What a joke!) I though that everything would be so cheap, but you have to take taxis everywhere, because everything is 10-20-30 miles away. Anyway, I am glad I saw it but I told Betty that next time we are staying in a hotel in Playa del Carmen, because all of the taxis that we took would have paid for a room.

Because of Easter (Wow! It’s the week of Easter right now too. 🙂 ) I have four days off! We were going to go to Merida, which is about 4 hours away, but we decided to wait until Uta comes, and maybe she will want to go too! This is a VERY busy travel weekend in Mexico. So instead, Betty and I are going to Cozumel on Saturday. I have never been there, so I am very excited. Her boss gave us some tickets for a park on the island too. Tomorrow we may go to Isla Mujeres for the day, as it is very cheap and close. The rest of my time will be spent salsa dancing!!

I can’t wait for my visitors!

Thanks for the e-mails!

Love, Kristin

Next time…how she spent Easter weekend.
