2nd Mayan-Tibetan Cultural Encounter in Hacienda Tres Rios

Once again I had the privilege of attending the amazing Mayan-Tibetan Cultural Encounter at our luxury resort and nature park, Hacienda Tres Rios. Local representatives of the Mayan community and Tibetan Monks met to hold spiritual ceremonies to promote peace and cultural diversity.

I would like to share some of the pictures I took…there’s really not much to say, they speak for themselves…it’s a beautiful event.

  1. What beautiful pictures. You were lucky to be a part of this event. What do the colorful powder like substances in the silver bowls represent?

    • The substance in the bowls is colored sand that they use to create the mandala (3rd from last picture). The mandala is created and then immediately destroyed which represents the idea that nothing is permanent. You’ll have to check Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandala) for more information about what the mandala and the colors mean though, haha, ’cause that’s all I got!

  2. The most impressive part is the mandala … so many details!
