What am I still doing in Cancun?

The adventures of an American single mommy working and playing in paradise.

Moving to Cancun E-mail Number 10

I felt so much better once I was working. I settled into a routine and started to live the Cancun lifestyle…I really need a scanner, I have pictures of all of this stuff!!!

Well, as you have probably noticed. I haven’t been writing as much. First, because I have to save money (was going to the internet cafe and had to pay) second, because I work now!

Right now I am washing my clothes, but I came to the internet cafe while they dry. Tonight I will go out with Bety. I am very excited to dance Salsa, as I haven’t gone for a week and a half!! (Back then that was a looong time! I sure miss going dancing all the time but everything here starts so late and bebe gets up EARLY.)

Ok, I found out that you can say “alto” for “stop”, it’s just that nobody here says it. Anyway, the spring breakers still sound silly yelling it! 🙂 I have a couple of other stories…

I always hear strange noises here. The other day I asked my students what a noise outside was. It was a loud banging, metal against metal. I found out that this is how you know that the gas man is in your neighborhood, so that you can buy a tank from him. (Unfortunately I know this first hand now!) If I need a new bottle of water, I just wait to hear “Aaaaguuuua”! The man brings the water right up to my room! (Still doing this too.)

The guy next door to me has a favorite song, “No Scrubs” by TLC. He plays it approximately 15 times a day. I now HATE that song. I never want to hear it again. This morning he played it for me at 2:30am!! (I’m pretty sure he actually was a “scrub”.)

I am going to get my clothes, and then, I may have found a place to watch the game…we’ll see. GO STATE!

I love and miss you all,

Next time…Cuban musicians, bug bites and a new job???
